XP keeps rebooting & then get a BSOD

HI, a friend of mine has asked to help with his PC problem. basically the PC was going through start up when they had a power cut, now every time we try and put it back on it gets as far as the windows loading screen then reboots, this is the same in safe mode, safe mode command prompt etc. i have now tried to use the XP disc to run the XP repair option (press R ro repair) this goes so far then a BSOD appears with the stop error -

Bad_Pool_Caller

Stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xc3b14000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

i am not sure what software etc is on there only that the power cut has prompted the problem and i cant seem to find a way to get the PC to boot up again.

any help is appreciated and although i am ok on a pc this is beyond my experiences

0x000000C2: BAD_POOL_CALLER
A kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.
