FN button freezes laptop
Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite running Vista and whenever I press my FN key it scrambles the screen and freezes my laptop. It is not a major issue but it is rather annoying when I want to use some of the other shortcuts. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it? If not I will just stop trying to use it. Thanks.

Does this happen only while in Windows? If so, the reason for the crash could be due to the Toshiba software that manages the FN key functionalities.
Two things you can try: 1) Upgrading your current Toshiba software (usually through a built-in updater tool) 2) Removing the program that controls the FN keys within Windows, most likely it's set to open at startup. Here's a thread that briefly describes how to remove a startup item by using msconfig: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic109615.html You can also download and use this tool to do so (easier): http://www.techspot.com/downloads/93...g-cleanup.html |
