Blue screen and lagging ... Reason for worry?

After installing some new out-of-the-box ram I noticed my computer was faster that day (as expected), but the next day, as i was on the web and had a scanner running, I noticed that browser was locking up periodically. It came to the point where my whole screen locked up and then I got a blue screen.

Since then I haven't had another blue screen, however my computer has been acting extremely sluggish at times similar to before I got the blue screen (but to a lesser degree).

What do I do so I can remove this laggy ... ness?

Programs running before blue screen: Avast (latest version) and flock the web browser by mozilla.

OS: Windows XP

specs: Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz and 1.5 9 (as of now)

What is the Blue Screen error code and does it also list a driver.

How old is the system and please give us you hardware specs plus internet security.
