Help Bsod system error category (102) event ID 1003
Hey guys
I have a kinda unique BSOD I have read other post for a while and nothing seems to have worked to fix this. Here is the scenario >Windows xp Sp3 System run great until I try to save a file then I get BSOD stating stack buffer overrun stop 0x000000f7 memtest shows no errors, but I installed new memory anyway. not sure but this a recent small network consisting of 5 computers (peer to peer) 3 of the 5 computers are doing the exact same thing. attached is the mini dump from 1 of the systems. |

All your errors are 0xF7: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER
A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine. DESCRIPTION A driver overran a stack-based buffer (or local variable) in a way that would have overwritten the function's return address and jumped back to an arbitrary address when the function returned. This is the classic "buffer overrun" hacking attack and the system has been brought down to prevent a malicious user from gaining complete control of it. This is error is caused by drivers. In your case all five reported the same one vetfddnt.sys which is a CA Antivirus Protection driver and it also can be part of ZoneAlarm Security Suite. |

Thanks for the quick response
I did note that the vetfddnt.sys was the possible cause after I downloaded the debugging tools and opened the dmp file. I am new to reading the dump files. I am looking now into the vetfddnt.sys as I now have 3 offices having the same issue. They all installed CA yesterday and that is when the problems started. Thanks again for the quick response. |

You are welcome and there are better solutions than CA.
