Apple has made the next move in their continued struggle against modders and other iPhone enthusiasts, by increasing the iPhone 3GS's resistance to jailbreaking. It's well known that each iteration of iPhone OS (and often the various updates in between) incorporate new measures to stop jailbreaking, and the most recent update is no exception. I think Apple is way to anal about their control of their hardware. Once I have bought the hardware, I feel I should be able to do anything I want with it.

With how restrictive they are on their apps, and how long it takes to roll out apps to run hardware that is already in the iPhone, they are asking for people to jailbreak the iPhones and run 'non-apple approved apps'.

They're never gonna be able to stop it, the ability to jailbreak is one of the reasons why they're selling so well.

I'm running Jailbroken 3.12 on my 3GS, life is good ! )

Oh, absolutely. Not for the app hacks but for the ISP freedom you get. I won't quote a figure but I imagine a significant share of iPhone users (in the US, for example) are not using it in AT&T.
