Intel's 915G and 925X chipsets
"What you may not know is that Intel was not content just to replace the PCI bus. Instead, the company has undertaken to freshen up nearly the entire PC platform, with new specifications for everything from memory to storage, graphics, power, enclosures, cooling, processor sockets, and audio."
A great article on the future of the PC - a subject close to my own heart of the moment. Particularly interesting is the CPU socket with pins in it - its strange to see the mobo with pins rather than the chip itself. And apparently, a "pinless" CPU is a pretty sturdy one. A great article with some great photos of PCI Express, DDR2 and much more here. Another great article here, and here. |

So long bent pins on CPU, hello bent pins on motherboard.

Certainly looks a lot more kick *** / hard case. Apparently the CPUs are a lot more sturdy and strong feeling.
