Vista Power Plan.. what does it really do?

Vista Power Plan:
-Power Saver
-Balance
-High Performance

what it really do? I just think if you have a 2 GHZ CPU then
-Power Saver will set your CPU to maybe 1.6 GHZ
-Balance will set your CPU to normal 2.0 GHZ
-High Performance will overclock your CPU to maybe 2.2 GHZ

Can anyone tell?

Thanks..

Why not just customize your own settings? Set each option as you like

For someone like you that probably never really suffered power unavailability, it is not really meant for you to worry about.
These are the little I know of this.
Some of this options can be changed using the power option in the control panel
High Performance
Max CPU speed. i.e 2.0GHz especially when on AC
Max Graphics performance (Gamers are aware) when running battery
No Hard disk timeout
No Auto-suspension
High screen contrast
...

Powersaver
It is just meant to reduce power consumption especially when running on battery
Low CPU speed sometimes half
Lower Graphics performance
Quick auto-suspend
hard disk time-out
screen auto turn-off
lower screen contrast
...

Balanced/ Recommended
You can think of the balanced mode as a middle way between the 2 extremes
Recommended is a customised balanced mode

If you always rely on AC, well, just keep your pc on high performance
If you have to depend on your battery, then powersaver comes in handy

All the power plan does is control when your monitor shuts itself off, when the harddrives stop spinning, and when your system goes into stand-by or "sleep" mode.

Power saving makes everything turn off except Windows itself to save energy.

Balanced turns off the Monitor and Hard Disk Drives.

High Performance only turns off the monitor.

The time frame for all this to happen is between 20 minutes and 1 hour.
