Computer running slow

My computer is running extremely slow at startup and shutdown, i'm running xp with 3ghz processor, 2gig ram, service pack 3. I currently have an average of 20 - 25mins to boot my computer, and i'm worried that i may have a virus, even though my scans come up clean. I have attached my hijack this log, please help???

Can't do anything with just the HijakThis log. Burt there are threads here to help you troubleshoot a slow computer. You should go through them, then decide if you need to run the steps in the Virus and Malware Removal.

Consider removing Bit Torrent:

P2P or 'file sharing: P2P Warning:
Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. I suggest that you uninstall Bit Torrentm for the following reasons:
  • As long as you are using file sharing networks and programs which are from sources that are not documented, you cannot verity that a download is legitimate.
  • Malware writers use these program to include malicious content.
  • Fie sharing is usually unmonitored and there is a danger that your private files might be accessed.
  • The 'sharing' also includes malware that the shared system has on it.
  • Files that are illegal can be spread through file sharing.

Please read the information on P2P Warning to help you better understand these dangers.

Things I recommend you to do in order to speed up PC boot and shutdown: they are what I have done to improve my computer's speed, hope them can help!
1. Run a registry scan and, clean those found errors. 150 errors on average are said to be found on people's computers.
2. Clean system junk files. They take up the memory of your computer
3. Clean history records.
4. Defrag registry. Streamlined registry can reduct application response time.
5. Defrag hard disk.
6. See how many programs will automatically start when you boot your compter? Deletion of unnecessary ones can speed up PC boot.

The first time that I ran a system scan, and find junk files took up 1224 MB space on my computer, that's amazing!
Many system tools are recommended on the web and you can google them. Good luck!
