I keep having a repeating problem with my DVD burners. They all keep having the same problem diff brands tried on diff comps. It reads all disks with Media on them just fine. They read blank CDs just fine but when ever I put in a blank DVD they wont read them. I put in a blank DVD and the Burner starts up. You hear the whirring noise as it picks up speed and then a series of clicks. Tick tick tick tick tick. Then the Burner shuts down and starts over repeating the picking up speed and thent the clicks. I have four DVD Burners all of them are doing the same thing. DVDs that are already burnt work fine and blank CDs work fine. Im tired of buying new Burners does anyone know of a way to fix my problem? I would appreciate any help you could toss my way.

I don't have a similar prob. burner works fine, with CD's but won't accept DVD blanks, saying they are completely filled up. Reader/Writer is a HL-DT-ST mod. DVDRRW GWA-4083B

Any ideas?

1) I'd check for any firmware updates for you device
2) You might still see the same link i provided in prior post to resolve CD/DVD issues caused by filters. As filters can cause some pain-in-the-$$$ problems.

In worst case, you may just need to reinstall your burning software if it doesn't help..

Because this happens with several different burners, I recommend going ahead and deleting the upper and lower filters.

I tried everything suggested in the link you gave me. Nothing. None of the my DVD Burners will detect blank DVDs. Any other suggestions? :\

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question... but are you sure they're DVD burners? There are devices that are CD-RW and only read DVDs! What is the specific model number?

You can install the trial copy of DVDInfoPro. It will give you the media properties of each drive. Use the clipboard icon to copy then paste the info for us to see

Is that what you wanted? I dont see anywhere on there that its a DVD Burner but I have used it to burn DVDs.
