CPU/AGP/DIMM setting

Hi, I'm running little confused circles at the moment on one hand I sent Gigabyte a note asking if my MB would support a (yes it's old) P4 478 800MHz CPU and they said;
"Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, according to the specification, it can only support 533/400 MHz FSB processor. It does not support 800MHz"
OK
Then when I go to their site & download my system specification sheet down near the bottom it says
CPU/AGP/DIMM setting
1.CPU FSB / Multiplier /Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS
2.AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
3.DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
I have a GA-8GE800 Pro MB (yes I told you already OLD)
CPU currently P4 2.42GHz
Wanting to upgrade CPU price difference between P4 3.06/533 GHz & P4 3.4/800GHz (with a larger BUS 512KB verses 1M) only $30.00AUS.Please Help? I'm not to worried about BIOS Flashing as MB has "DUAL BIOS"

My apology, what was your question again?

If you get a larger 1 meg Cache that would be better, if its in their list of supported CPUs

Is that what you wanted to know?

In the list I wrote starting at the bottom
Quote:
3.DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
Fitted a new higher voltage DIMM (KHX3200/1G) and clocked to suite new system specifications
Quote:
2.AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
Fitted new NvIdea Ge Force 7600GT and clocked to suite new system specifications
Quote:
1.CPU FSB / Multiplier /Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS
I don't know? here is where I fail because I'm a Noob. Does this line read as the other two did CPU FSB adjustable via BIOS? / CPU Multiplier adjustable via BIOS? / CPU Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS? Or am I just right off the mark?
Thanks kimsland for the list of supported CPU http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...1622#anchor_os BUT as with other MB manufacturers they do not "openly" support Over-clocking / Adjusting via BIOS systems as "it may lead to systematic self destruction of their product" However I've also read where the "Gigabyte architectural functionality lends it's self to people who understand the allowances and tolerances involved" (possible Techspot Quote although I may be misinformed)

Outa the oven now

Now modified - Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz 478/1M/800 SL7E6 running for almost a month and no crashes the only thing I lost was my Microsoft Outlook address book file (which my phone/modem Nokia 6500 classic was the backup for). I did do some things though that I would recommend. And that was all my games that I had previously loaded onto my HD I wiped off and re-installed. I actually expect to need to do that for most, if not all my drivers.
Didn't have any issues with BIOS as my motherboard GA-8GE800 Pro has dual bios that I backed up to floppy to be safe/sure
It's quite interesting how it shows in the Device Manager - twice
