BSoD - 8086 (I thought this was an old processor!)
Hi,
I have a Dell Dimension that, until recently, was VERY stable. No errors, no BSoDs! Hardware, etc. tests all done and passed. Now I get this 8086 STOP code at any time. When apps are running, when they're not; after a few hours up-time, after a few minutes. Crazy! Any help gratefully received, thank you very much. R. |

All BSoDs, point to iaStor.sys , and since this driver file of yours states made in 2004, I'd say it needs updating
(god knows how you got this old version put on recently)Here's all your driver updates: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100658.html |

Thank you very much kimsland.
![]() How did you see iaStor.sys? I used MS debugger and !Analyze but didn't see that file! I bought the machine in May 05 so maybe it came with it? Can I just delete the old one and copy a new version to the directory or is it more complex than that? I can make it do a BSoD by runing, ironically, the Dell Support Centre self checking software! Could this help debugging? Cheers. Last edited by rblake; 12-03-2009 at 12:13 PM.. |

Read: How to View \ Analyze Minidumps
Although you don't need to do this anymore, since I have done it for you ![]() Just go to >> Dell Support, and update all your drivers |

Brilliant!
I updated iaStor - from the Intel site in the ned as the Dell site was ... odd - easy as pie. I ran the check thing that causes BSoD and ... nothing! No BSoD! Fingers crossed it's all good! Thank you very much kimsland, you are an absolute star! |
