Micron To Offer 2Gbit NAND Flash By End Of Year

Its emerged today that Micron Technology will begin offering 90nm, 2Gbit NAND flash chips by the end of this year. This technology will be targetted at memory cards, USB devices and many other storage applications.

Micron is planning its production ramp to coincide with the flash card market’s predicted transition from 128MB to 256MB density NAND as the volume leader. “Micron is entering the NAND market aggressively, starting with the introduction of our first device on 90nm followed by process migrations to 72nm and then 58nm. Our NAND roadmap reflects multiple configurations and density migrations up to 16Gbit. We anticipate ramping production quickly to meet the forecasted market demand,” said Jan du Preez, Micron’s vice president of networking and communication in a press release.
