Hello. I am seeking your help. I have an issue that has been appearing in the last few days on my Windows XP MCE 2005 Edition. I am not a computer expert and need considerable assistance with this issue since it deals with a component of Windows I am not very knowledgeable about. It deals with Microsoft Net Framework. I have heard of it, but I know nothing about it. I would like to know the reason why I am not having this issue and what I need to do in order to stop it or even fix from happening. If I need to "fix it", please provider me the steps for me to follow. An error message Window appears randomly when I am on websites within Internet Explorer. It error message states:

Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable.

<Details> <Continue> <Quit>

...if I click on the "Details" button within the window, this is the details I am given:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

...please help me with my issue. Thank you!

Try running Windows Update and be sure to click Custom. Be sure to install all hardware optional updates. Also, look through the software optional as some are for NET framework (if i recall correctly). so be sure all the NET framework stuff installed also

hope this might help!

Often this is a Net Framework install issue... so try to remove it and then repair or replace it using Windows Update. If you do not have Service Pack 3, install that and the problem usually goes away during the Serivce Pack 3 install of the updates.

Run something, like Belarc Advisor (free) to enable you to run an inventory of all the Windows Updates, then look for red errror codes in the printout.

Sometimes it is necessary to remove all the updates, reboot, defragment your system, then run Windows update for a clean install. But, as Looking Around Suggests, be sure you are installing in Custom mode... and stay by the machine so you can watch for errors.

Also can be caused by corruption on the hard drive. (rare)

Thank you for your reply! This is what I did: I have downloaded and installed the setup file for installing NET 3.5 SP1. During the process, I can see this was not a first time installation, since I get an option during the setup process "Maintenance Mode: Repair" or an uninstall option. This tells me that it was already installed. So, now lets assume that the file is corrupted now if it is indeed causing problems and yet already installed. So what the heck, I decide to "repair" NET 3.5 SP1. If it was originally okay, a repair wouldn't cause any problems anyways. The repairs installed successfully. I then check Windows/Microsoft Updates through "Custom" option. I do have 2 updates that I find and I install both. One Is Microsoft NET Framework XP x86 3.0 SP2 & the other is Microsoft NET Framework XP x86 2.0 SP2. Now lets hope the repair and updates fix the issue. I will post on this forum if the issue arises again. For now, lets keep our fingers crossed that it is fixed! So far, no issues! Thanks!
