Seagate offers 5-year warranty as standard

Seagate is now offering a 5-year warranty on all consumer drives manufacturered past June 1st.

The idea behind this is probably to increase sales.

Consumers who buy products from manufacturers who use Seagate drives will not be affected by the new warranty scheme, as the OEM usually handles the warranty.
