Realtek mic troubles!

Ok I got a new logitec headset with a mic, I tried using the mic on my laptop (which doesnt have realtek) and it worked fine, but when I try and use the mic on my pc (which does have realtek) i cant get it to work. When I open the Realtek menu thing, and go to the tab with the jacks, I cant click on the one my mic is ever plugged into, it does not detect the plug in, ive tried all sorts of stuff with the computer and cannot figure it out. Ive heard other people having alot of trouble using their mics and having realtek. let me know if you can help, thanks.

I need to fix this issue as soon as possible, please help me or link me somewhere so i can address this problem, thanks.

What version of Windows are you using? Is it fully updated using Windows Update?
