I think if you manage your pc's security carefully; one should be able to live with it till the patch arrives. But more importantly, XP Mode is going to be mostly used by businesses (+ lesser number of home users) and probably not by majority who are buying new machines (as you have to manually download/install it), this will also going to reduce the number of affected users.
