Your error is 0x0000009C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
This is a hardware issue: an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely lead to a clear solution. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware (RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc.), or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities (e.g., overclocking a CPU).

I cannot begin to tell you how difficult this error is to work with because it can be due to any hardware in your system. I have yet to see any minidump ever cite a probable cause and I know IT specialists that confess to the difficulty of pinning down the problem. I'm not trying to be negative but to prepare you on needingto do a lot of work.

Do the following diagnostic steps:

1. If you have overclocked ease back the timings and voltage.

2. Run Memtest on your RAM for a minimum of 7 Passes.

3. Run ChkDsk

4. Run a harddrive diagnostics.

Thanks for the response. I have run memtest and it appears to be fine. I haven't OC'd the system at all. It has recently been cleaned too.

I'll try the chkdsk tomorrow. Im not sure about he harddrive diagostics. Is there a particular tool for this?

Find the make of your harddrive and go to the manufacture's website and use their free HD diagnostic utility. Run both short and long tests.
