IBM "eFuse" tech will make chips self-configuring

Boasting that it will change the way chips are integrated into all sorts of electronic devices, IBM has announced a new type of chip which can change its own functionality and can balance performance and power consumption without any form of human interaction.

Its not clear whether this technology has actually been applied into anything tangible yet, but its certainly on the way. eFuse is able to reconfigure and reroute its chip logic, in much the same way that traffic patterns can be altered by opening and closing new lanes, according to the report.
