AMD begins 90nm production
A recent report from investment management firm, Goldman Sachs, revealed that AMD is right on schedule with its 90nm production. Mobile AMD processors using the technology have already begun shipping and desktop products are expected to go out as soon as next month.
AMD is one of the few companies that has experienced no delays during the 90-nm shift unlike competitor Intel, as well as IBM and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. This of course will make for an easier transition to dual-core processors which are expected to arrive by the second half of next year. ExtremeTech reports that even quad−core processors are being put in schedule for 2007 on the 65m/300mm process, which gives a good hint what's to be expected on CPU developments for the years to come.
