Sprint brings streaming media to cell phones

Up until fairly recently, the possibility of streaming media on cell phones in the US was not really likely - however Sprint now thinks they have cracked it.

In a join venture with Samsung, Sprint will stream 15-frames/second video as well as audio directly to the Samsung MM-A700. The kind of content available is much as you'd expect - sport, weather, news, etc.

Alternatives, such as the Idetic MobiTV, are not as cool. Idetic MobiTV lays video clips faster than the 1 frame per second, for example, and requires the user to download the entire video to the phone before playing it. Sprint's offering will be purely streaming.

Well ain't that nice. I wonder if streaming actual voice conversations is in the works.

Sprint sucks *****. This is the carrier the Co. I work for uses and I am lucky enough to have one of their top of the line phones. Even in major metropolitan areas I have reception problems with Sprint. Sometimes I get calls from work to this, my work Sprint phone and I have to hang up and call from my home phone or my girlfriend's cell phone. Talk about POS service.

If it wasn't cause I don't have to pay for it, I'd dump them in a second.
