Thunderbird... reloaded

I had thunderbird on an old box, when I upgraded I backed it up and thought I could just reinstall on new box and replace the folder and magically my mail would be restored. That didn't happen (of course I would not be posting if it did ...but) does anyone know how I can make mail reappear? They were both XP boxes and I am fairly sure (not positive) they were running the same version of Thunderbird.
 
your emails aren't lost unless you formatted the old drive. Use mozilla backup - ensure the save emails option is there. retry. You didn't do something right. I've transferred TB many times without issues.
 
Thunderbird stores email here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourLogin\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\ika9rn62.default\Mail\*

the ika9rn62.default will be unique (ie may be different)
