Screen goes black with one white flashing dash

hey guys


well yesterday i turned off my pc came back to it turned it on it started up for 3 seconds then the screen went black with one white flashing dash at the top left

if i restart it it happens again. I changed my monitor and it still didint work so i know its my hard drive or something


any help would be greatly appreciated

The CD for whatever version of Windows you have installed.

Did you check to make sure there are no USB drivers connected that the machine is trying to boot from?
 
ya i made sure and there is no cd's. i have windows xp installed and i have no idea were the cd is so im out of luck on that one lol

any more ideas?

i hate having no idea whats happening lol
