LCD monitors with 8ms response time to be mainstream?

In Q4 of this year, ViewSonic plans to introduce two or three models with an 8ms response time, and BenQ will also release two or three 8ms models and increase its sales proportion of 16- and 12ms-response-time. Does this mean that 8ms response time will become the mainstream in 2005? Both of these companies think so. Other companies are also following suit, with Chi Mei Group (with its CMV brand) and Royal Philips Electronics also joining the party in Q4 this year or in 2005. Initially aimed at high-end users such as graphics designers, 3D gamers and DVD viewers, such LCD monitors will now hopefully become a PC VDU standard in the not too distant future.

I'll wait for OLED panels instead.. my 16ms Viewsonic works fine, doesn't have a single dead pixel yet

Anyhow, as human eye can't see faster than certain amount of movement per second, what's the point in having faster and faster displays? Changing refresh rate doesn't have any effect in LCD displays either (at least from what I see).

Organic LED...

It's one new way to create monitors which are much much faster than LCD.
It's also supposed to be cheaper to produce than LCD's, but I'm not too sure about it.

I'll try to find some more info about it...

Here is a list of articles about OLED from PC Magazine.

ZDNet has a story about OLED here.

and here is a small "white paper" (not really a white paper, but still), which links to this story which gives a better detail of OLED).

You'll find a few white papers in this search, but I can not vouch for how enlightning they are...

[EDIT]

Samsung SDI has a lot of information about OLED, and you can find it all here
