Intel to shrink size of its transistors by 30%
Paving the way for even more powerful PCs than we have seen so far, Intel has managed to shrink the size of its transistors by 30%, putting to rest rumours that the firm had reached certain technical limits.
This development gives further credibility to Moore's Law, since it provides evidence that this law continues. The new chip has been made possible by a process which limits power consumption by parts of the chip which are not in use. Heat emissions will be reduced accordingly. New processors using this technology will be on sale next year. |
