Nvrd32.sys error when installing Windows XP
Greetings,
I am trying to install a fresh copy of windows xp on an old toshiba portege 2000. When i boot up the laptop, it will not boot from the usb cd drive even though I have it set in the bios to boot from the cd drive first. The laptop will then go into Windows Set Up in which i then receive an error that the "nvrd32.sys" file could not be found and it tells me to reboot. I have done some searches to try an fix the problem but what have i found does not fix this error. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanx |

You might find this thread at the Toshiba forums to be helpful
![]() http://forums.computers.toshiba-euro...threadID=23921 I do not believe it is possible to adjust bios to recognize a USB cd. AFAIK that bios setting will only adjust the boot order for INTERNAL devices. Thus the "work arounds" suggested in the forum link above. Note: the "work around" mentioned requires a second system. Thank you for the help. Seems it was the disk. I got a different one and it is working now.
Thanks again. |
