Panasonic to release new high end DVD recorder

Panasonic are going to release a new high end DVD recorder, it has been revealed. According to the company, the DMR-E500H will be able to be remotely programmed via a PC or a mobile phone, and will "enable people in different rooms to watch the same recording." Its specs are pretty impressive: 400G-byte hard disk that can store up to 709 hours of recording in extended play (EP) mode, and a maximum peed of 64x when recording in EP mode from a hard disc to DVD-R. Basically, it can record a 60-minute program in 56 seconds, which is apparently (according to Panasonic) the fastest recording around. The recorder can also write at 40x to DVD-RAM. Panasonic also has models that double as VHS recorders as well, albeit with diminished hard disk space.
