Personal settings failure in XP Pro

After a recent HD crash, I had to reinstall my OS, XP Pro. Now when I boot up, it sees the individual accounts, but when I try to log into my name, it says it can't find my personal settings and defaults to some temp files where I have no internet fav's, etc.

Any ideas?

Sounds to me like your user settings are corrupt in the registry. If that is the case I`m not sure weather it can be fixed. Hopefully someone else might know but failing that it sounds like a reformat and reinstall might be in order. Regards Howard

You can always to a repair of the OS. See How to repair Windows XP/2000 if you are unable to boot into Windows.
Of course you can boot into windows, and you can still follow the directions if all else fails.
