PC doesn't boot after new CPU

I installed a Phenom II quad core black edition in my old(er) desktop today. When I attempt to turn it on the fan kicks in and the HDD light flashes, but there are no beeps and nothing shows on the screen. Is it possible I fried the motherboard or do you think the CPU just isn't compatible?

Are you sure the mobo supports the CPU? Do you have all the mobo power connectors plugged in?

Most likely though, you need to update the BIOS so it recognizes the new CPU.

incompatibility of your mobo and cpu may be the reason. Power supply is another. You may also try re-seating your peripherals it may got loosen during installation of your CPU.
