How To Boost Ping In Games?
I have a fast internet connection, but always seem to get slow pings in games. My brother's pings are lower than mine, yet his download speed is slower than mine.
I use a Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router RP614v2. On my router's settings page I have several options like Port Forwarding, Port Triggering, LAN IP Setup, and WAN Setup. I have no idea what to do with any of these nor if changing any of these settings will help me. Does anyone know how/what I should/could do with these to boost my online gaming pings? TIA Last edited by Kencelot; 09-26-2004 at 07:30 PM.. |

First off, check your router settings to make sure your bro aint getting more bandwidth then you are
by default on most routers it sholdn't matter but all the same...Secondly turn off WIndows firewall if your using XP. If your using Norton Personal Firewall please specify your games .exe as a trusted prog or the FW tend to keep an eye on what it's doing thus choking your bandwidth. Also be sure to do a pathping to a game server or webby on both machines and see what the results are. You may have a dodgy connection somewhere. In your Start.Run menu enter "CMD" to go into the command promt. Then pathping techspot.com (or the ip will do) Post your results up and we'll have a look. |
