HP drops Intel Itanium 2-based workstations

"Basically this is a response to customer requirements in the workstation business." - HP.

HP has has stopped selling workstations based on Intel's Itanium 2 microprocessor, it has been revealed. The company has blamed market conditions for the decision, which caused them to stop selling workstations based on the processors at the start of this month. HP introduced two Itanium workstations, the single-processor zx2000 and the dual-processor zx6000 back in September 2002 - two years ago.
