open new window only works in second browser

Hi,

I've been reading the many post regarding the problem with opening new windows and nothing seems to work for me. When I open IE and try to click on open new window it just freezes for a minute and then acts as if I didn't do anything.

What I found out today is that when I press ctrl-n to open another window and then close the original window, the "open new window" and pop-ups work in the second window.

Any ideas why it doesn't work in the first

That is a very strange solution. I have this problem currently and the only way I figured out how to fix it was to get a new browser

Opera.

I'll have to give that a shot when I get home and see if it fixes anything.

I figured it out...

for some reason the icon on my desktop was opening up a corrupted version of ie. When I opened a new window using ctrl-n it opened up the version that I had recently downloaded in an attempt to fix the problem. I deleted the icon on my desktop and haven't had any problems.

Very intersting. I forgot I did a repair of Windows and it fixed the IE problem. But I will have to keep that in mind for the future. Thanks again ladywebby :grinthumb
