World Cyber Games

"My parents didn't like it at all at first, but when I started traveling and making money out of it, they realized that I'm actually not just wasting my time on this." - gamer Michael Korduner of Stockholm.

This year's World Cyber Games has a cash and prize pool worth $400k that will be spread over the 8 tournaments. The event is held in San Francisco will have 700 players from 62 different countries participating. The winning team in the five-on-five "Counter Strike" competition gets $50,000, the runner-up team half that.
