DSL modem/router combo as modem only?

I have a ZyXel Q1000Z DSL Modem/Router combo and it's only connecting me at 130 mbps so I'd like to use my own router, a DIR-655 to connect me at 300 mbps. There isn't a WAN port coming out of the Q1000Z, USB port and 4 LAN ports.

How can I do this?

Can't

the DSL is the input and ALL connections to the device will (internally) use the router portion. The bandwidth you see is NOT restricted by the internal router however - - it's the DSL itself.

Well I have a 40 mbps down 20 mbps up. Do you think I'm taking full advantage of that with 130 mpbs connection?
