Laptop power supply

hi i have a acer 1200 laptop and at the moment it doesnt charge up. when plug in the charger it usually charges well but recently it doesnt charge up unless i fiddle about with back of the latop where it plugs in, this can be frustrating when i move the laptop and it goes off because the charger has moved. please help!!!

How old is the battery ? They have a limited amount of charges in their functional life.
Does the light come on and stay on for the charger? If it only comes on when you fiddle with it , it may be burnt out .
