recently i noticed a weird problem with my monitor. When i am just surfing or playing a game, suddenly my monitors shuts down (screen is black), and after a second it suddenly turns back on.
It's not that annoying but i wanna now why..
Any idea?

p.s. it's an LG crt monitor and my video card is a geforce 4 ti 4200.

System specs
First thing to check are the cables to the monitor..

It could also be buggy power management (better turn it off in system BIOS completely) or a dodgy vid card.

My daughters LCD monitor was doing that. I think what happened was MS Windows XP auto update replaced the nVidia drivers with MS drivers. I checked and saw MS brand drivers under the Video Card Properties driver tab in Device Manager. I thought, this isn't right, I know I put nVidia drivers on the system, so I installed new nVidia drivers and it went away.
