Incorrect ram reading
I just built my first pc (asrock k7s41gx mobo, amd 2600+, with 256mb pc2700 ddr ram) when I check my system settings it says that I only have 196mb of ram. I'm a newb at this so I have no idea about what I can do. I searched the forum a bunch and didn't find any answers. thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to TechSpot Forums
Sounds like the memory module is faulty, have you tried another one?

If you are using onboard shared graphics then this is where the ram will have gone I.E 256mb ram - 60mb shared graphics = 196mb ram.
Hope this helps Regards Howard Ps Hello and welcome to Techspot
