Changing jack headset properties

Hy there.

I have jack headphones and sometimes when I wanna listen to the computer when i'm connecting headphones the sound is a surrounding one. Can I change the properties of it?
I mention I inserted them in the keyboard slot, but if I insert them to the PC the sound is good.

You mentioned you plugged the headphones into your keyboard. Could you provide the details of your motherboard?

I have an : Asus P4P800S-X, 2DDR DIMM, ATX, 4PCI, 1AGP 478 socket.
