Installing a game via Registry. Possible?

greetings,

i have a game , conquest frontier wars to be specific, that was installed in a previous windows installation. However, it is not 'recognized' by the current windows installation. What should i do? I want to apply a patch and to play online , but the patch works via registry detection. Therefore, i cannot apply it.
The cd that i bought is lost what should i do?

regards,
jag
