Please help me find a compatible video card for my HP..........

My desktop pc is a HP Pavilion 7935. I am working on updating this system in order to play the newest Sims 2 game. I have updated my RAM to 256 MB and I have installed a DVD disk drive along with DirectX 9.0. The only thing I am having trouble with is updating the graphics/video card. I need help. I chose a card (Radeon 9250, PCI) it was too much for my system to handle, and it wasn't compatible with DirectX 9.0. The Radeon card fit in the vacant slot (PCI), but ran down my system and made it crash. I worked on getting the device driver updated and updated my system accordingly, however, it still did not work properly. I have since uninstalled the video card. My system runs nice and smooth now. Did I mention that I am learning.....anyway, I need a ATI Radeon 7200 or greater OR a NVIDIA GeForce2 or greater that is compatible with my system and runs with DirectX 9.0. Any help in choosing the correct video card would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm doing the best I can, but I'm learning.....

Did you disable the onboard video before installing the video card? Your manual will tell you how. Usually change a setting in the BIOS or a jumper on the motherboard. The 9250 should work fine in your system.

Yes, I did all of that, I followed all instructions.....the Radeon 9250 will not work on my system. It will not help me play my game either. I need a card that is compatible with DirectX 9.0 AND my HP Pavilion 7535.

Thank you though........

Large companies Like HP do not support many hardware options other than what they test.Your best bet would be to check their site for the different options they offer for your model computer. Also check for bios updates at Hp .You might also check the HP forums for other people who may have successfully done what you want to do.
Don't buy anything unless you can confirm it's compatibility with HP.
