Windows won't install on SATA drives

ok i just built a new system and i am using a 200 gb wd sata drive. now i have the drivers i think that came with the mother board and i nstall them by hitting the f6 and what not thats no big deal and windows installs but on reboot it says this

" Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk check boot path and disk hardware. please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware refrence manuals for additional info"

why is this, is it im installing the wrong drivers or what?. on top of that i also have windows 200 and was going to put that in first then use an upgrade but i tried that and get the same thing so im at a loss i pretty much dont know what i need to do know and i tried just doing windows xp and it went it dident tell me that this cd is an upgrade only but any help would be great

Try going into the BIOS and setting the first boot device as SCSI or RAID.
