(be careful with this one. it can remove some harmless stuff too)

ALIDABIRI thank you very much allready know them and spybot and ad aware are not very safe to use it all ready gave me more spy then took out good thing spy sweeper ad a trial version that took care of them, i am going to hope and stay safe with the micro soft one for know

Hope someone is still reviewing this thread - the above fix worked (to a point.) I renamed it Trash, rebooted the computer and I now have a new Recycled Bin that behaves the way it should. HOWEVER, I can't delete the renamed Trash bin because it has a folder in it named NPROTECT (presumably a hangover from when I used Norton Sytemworks) and the message I get when I try to delete the files in this folder is "Cannot delete file X. Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path & file name". I wouldn't bother with this except that these files are consuming nearly 500MB of disk space. Anyone have an answer to this for me??
