LED Lighting PLEASE HELP! :)

Hello, i was on newegg website and i ran into these led lights called "LOGISYS RED LAZER LED." and i was wondering, can i put these outside my case (on my desk) yet still hooked up to my computer? if the light gets static electricity will it travel back into my case Is this not a good idea?

you might have to do some fabrication to get the cable to run from the PSU out of your case to wherever you are wanting to put the LED light on your desk

personally...i think it looks tacky to put an LED on the outside of the case
