Slave drive needs to be formatted

Help?
Is their any way I can recover my data on Slave HD?
When I want to open my Slave drive a message pops up that says my drive is not formatted.
I really do not want to format the drive untill I tried to recover some DATA.

have you tried making your slave the master and backing up from there?

Sorry, but I am still learning.
Their is no Operating system installed on the slave . Only saved DATA.
When I make my slave A master drive , how will I go ahead to work on Drive?

are you running windows xp? if so, is the slave hard drive from a computer with a different operating system, such as a mac?

Yes I am runnning XP Pro Service pack 2.This slave hard drive use work with my existing master drive in the same box with XP on.When I had a look on my the slave drive on Disk Manager it does not show a file format.
