DriveImage and Disk Manager

When I run DriveImage in Win XP with two NTSF hard drives, and DriveImage drops back to Caldera DOS, I get Error Message #91 to the effect DriveImage has detected Disk Manager on Drive 1, but it is not running. In a previous post, and in an old knowledgebase article on the Symnatec website, the advice is to remove the Disk Manager signature from the MBR, if Disk Manager isn't need (it isn't).

How do I do that with an NTSF-formatted drive? I tried booting to Caldera DOS and running fdisk /cmbr 0 (0 being the number of the primary master drive), but it didn't seem to work. Also, if I'm successgul in doing that on my boot drive, will I lose any data and/or the sytem become inoperable?
