i am running an Intel P4 3.0 Ghz
when i go into bios to check the hardware monitor
my cpu temp reads an average of 93-95C within 10 minutes of boot up
yes it is C
i am sure its C
around 200 something F
I have installed a fan i am thinking about getting a pci slot and another additional fan for the case
the power supply is running a fan
and the cpu's heatsink and fan is also running
i opened the case and used a house fan, the temperature did drop about 2-4 degrees, im not sure on what to do
i am think about using a thermal paste
i thought it was the transfer of heat from the cpu to the heatsink/fan
the heat transfer paste had worn off the heat sink and half of it was stuck to the cpu
if anyone could give me some advice on what to do


these programs do not seem like an option to me because i have not even booted into the os yet, i just checked the hardware monitor

my computer has been running like this for a while, it does restart sometimes,
i have stopped using it until i find a solution for this problem
my guess is that the cpu heatsink was not securely attached to the cpu, is it possible that the thermometer may be reading wrong

the computer does run fine at times when i go into the os, occasionaly the pilot in bios tells me that there is a CPU over heat and asks if i would like to continue, if i do, it does run fine,,,,,i

if someone could please help me out it would b greatly appreciated

Clean the CPU and heatsink from traces of old thermal pad / paste, and apply a thin layer of new paste. That's it.
