What temp should AMD 3800+ run?

With the stock fan and heatsink the board is measuring the CPU heat between 55-58C in bios. That sounds hot...

System specs
is too hot

I have a 3800 right now running at minimal load of 37C and my room is hotter today than usual.

Your CPU should run 30-35 c Idle and 35-50 c under load.

You could try removing the heatsink, cleaning off the old thermal pad/paste, from both the heatsink, and cpu, and reapplying a very thin layer of new thermal paste.

I would say that your temps are not unusual if you are not running cool n quiet. Otherwise the temp would probably drop to 35 - 40 idle.

I don't get it!

There is a sticky which tells you what is normal temp! Just read that and you'd find that your values are normal.
