The only reason I believe that porn sites should be forced to use the .xxx domain is because of some of the porn sites that have web addresses that trick people. I remember being in a library and seeing a guy try to find the official white house website but used .com instead of .gov. He was quite embarassed when the site finished loading.

As far as I'm aware, pr0n sites wouldn't be forced to use it, it would be optional.

That said, I hope at some time pr0n sites WILL be forced to use it. That way I can block it and rarely ever have one forced on me ever again (I just hate pop-ups! especially when it's xxx)

It is my opinion that porn sites should wherever possible be forced to adopt the xxx. domain name. This would be of great benefit to anyone who has ever mis-typed a url, only to find themselves confonted with offensive material.

It would also enable parents to better protect children from obcene content.

Whether it would completely wipe it out remains to be seen, but anything is better than nothing.

I don`t know whether it would stop the popups that appear from some sites though.

Oh man, I'm for this all the way. Make it required. That way, instead of hunting down each and every .com, .net, .org etcetera that markets pr0n, schools, parents, libraries, workplaces etc. can just block the domain suffix of .xxx and protect kids from this stuff in one blinding sweep.

Just one of those top 50 things you would do if you were president type things though I can never see this happening at least on a scale that would be effective.
