Virtual Memory

Hi all! Can anyone tell me how can i have the optimum virtual memory in my system? I am using WindowsXP, P-4 (HT), 2.8 GHz.

control panel->system
advanced tab->performance
advanced tab has VM settings
set pagefile to 2 X your installed RAM

Well if you have plenty of hard drive space, custom change the page file to 2048MB or even 4gb

But it's likely that 1GB will be perfectly fine.
Make sure that the min and max size are the same.

You might run into probs if you set the pagfefile at 4g. I think twice ram is a good formula as long as it doesn't hit 4g.

The best way to optimise the pagefile is to have more than enough ram.
