TDK to launch 90min CD-Rs
TDK will be first to the market with 90 minute recordable discs according to this article on CDR-Info. The new discs that have about 100mb more capacity than the older 80min discs, are said to be backward compatible, hence readable by most current CD players.
In the other hand, new hardware and updated software will be needed for recording at full capacity, I wouldn't expect much difference in price from current recorders however. Other good news for the new discs is that they will be speed friendly with media capable of 40x burning. Read more here. |

This media has been around for at least a year and a half. I originally heard of 90min media almost 3 years ago.
TDK isn't the first, even though they might claim to be. Perhaps their goal is to make it mainstream.

90-min CD-R's have been around for a while??? Why have I not seen them???
Since I'm down to about 5 CD-R's, I think I'll give a few of these a go... |
