No IDE in BIOS
I am trying to put together a new computer but installation of windows fails every time with a blue screen and complainment of the hard disk (though the hard disk pass a CHKDSK test). To test this I decided to try another harddisk, so instead of my SATA-disk I inserted an old IDE-disk. But when I start the computer the IDE-sans sees the hard disk (as well as the CD-ROM), but then when I enter the BIOS it says "[Not Detected]" on all ID-masters and slaves. I am using an ASUS motherboard.
Is this right? And if not, what is wrong? I am a bit of novice on hardware issues. Thanks! Last edited by Surre; 10-25-2005 at 04:10 AM.. |

you probably need to clear the CMOS and reboot.
